Our story

We are Benton and Rachael Floyd. We met at church as students at Mississippi State, and we were part of a close-knit group of friends. However, we didn’t date until several years after graduation. We got hitched in August 2015.

Ben served families in community mental health, first as an adult clinician and then as the administrator for a children’s center. In 2019, he established his own practice, Lamppost Counseling Center where he treats individuals and families of all ages. Rachael has bonded with families through teaching, college recruitment, healthcare marketing, and nannying. She also runs a local fiction writing group.

We are members of  Woodland Presbyterian Church (PCA). We read, listen to lectures, play games, and hang-out with our old lady dog and three cats. Despite what you may be thinking after that last sentence, we also have friends who let us hang-out with them.

Even before we were married, we discussed how God might build our family. We prayed his plan included adoption. We have miscarried twice, and absolutely believe our babies are worshiping at the feet of Jesus. We knew parenting would be difficult, but we didn’t realize how tough the road to parenthood would be.

We are pursuing a domestic adoption because we hope to have a relationship with our baby’s birth family. We are excited to work with Lifeline Children’s Services to bring bebe Floyd home!
