We research and finally pick an agency. We learn learn about the agency and the process to adopt. The agency learns about us and determines if we are eligible adoptive parents.
We officially completed this stage in January 2020!
Social workers help us prepare our marriage and our home for an adopted bebe. For our agency, this stage has several steps. There are two interviews, reading material, ten references, a marriage conference, a marriage assessment, physicals, background checks, a bunch of paperwork, and an examination of our home.
Specific prayer requests:
Pray that our paperwork is efficiently and correctly completed.
Pray we are calm and prepared for our interviews and home visit.
Pray we are able to fund our adoption with little to no financial stress.
We are currently in this stage of our adoption!
Our profile is shown to birthmothers, one of whom will, hopefully, choose us to love her baby. We believe the waiting period will be so much harder than stacks of paperwork. Once a birthmother chooses us, then we wait for our little nugget to be born. Our birthmother may request to meet us— may even allow us to be present at the birth. We can’t wait to meet her and be able to pray for her by name.
Specific prayer requests:
Pray that every birth mother who lays eyes on our profile will come to know the Lord.
Pray that our baby’s mother is safe, has access to prenatal care, and is being equipped for postpartum life.
Pray that we are patient in the waiting.
